Meditation
According to TCM physiology, the functioning of the body and the functioning of the mind are completely and entirely interdependent. Mind and body are branches which stem from the same source, and thus cannot be separated from one another.
In TCM, the conscious mind of an individual is considered a sovereign emperor which presides over the kingdom of the body. In this way all of the body's energy falls under the direction of the mind. If a mind is peaceful, flexible, and relaxed, so to will be the body. If a mind is angry, agitated, tense, or nervous, so to will be the body.
Our state of mind has such a profound effect upon our overall health and well being. Each thought which arises in our mind stream has the potential to be medicinal or poisonous to our being. Just as we have a choice in selecting which foods we consume, mindfulness and meditation provide a means to become increasingly more aware and selective about where our minds abide. |
